Isaiah 6:5

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

As we walk in the transparent light of God, the layers of darkness in our hearts are exposed. Under each layer are deep sins that always existed in the depth of darkness. Approaching the light causes darkness to flee, revealing the hidden sins of our hearts. With each manifestation, our religious foundation is shaken, gradually stripping away our self-righteousness.

We long and strive to please the Lord, keep His commandments, and do what is right in His sight. However, the closer we come, the more our hidden sins are revealed by the light. Each revelation crushes our hearts with guilt and shame for the crime committed against God. As we repent from our sinful ways, the Lord is faithful to forgive us. Forgiven by the Lord, humble our arrogant hearts, slowly creating hearts of humility and gratitude. Confirming the Scriptures, As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.

When Adam and Eve sinned, they sewed fig leaves together to cover themself before the Lord. God came looking for them, Adam said. I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. Ashamed and embarrassed of their sins, they hide from the Lord in the garment of self-righteousness. Yet, God had foreseen their failure before the begging of time. My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.

Due to sin, we hide from God. Yet, the Lord is faithful and sends His goodness and mercy to follow after us. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. The love of God is unconditional, and His banner over us is love.

Consider some of the heroes of the bible and be encouraged by their testimony. Isaiah said, Woe is me, after seeing the King, the Lord of Host. Adam & Eve were instantly convicted, and fear gripped their hearts when they heard the voice of the Lord. Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. The Apostle Peter said, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. Paul, who wrote many letters in the New Testament, said, Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Those that continue to walk in the light of God will see their hidden sins.

Brethren, there are sins hidden deep in our hearts that keep us from coming closer to the Lord. However, God is in love with us and desires to draw us closer to Himself. He exposes our sins, so we may repent and come closer to Him. With each repentance, the pride in our hearts is slowly removed, creating a heart of gratitude. Unless we see our sins, we cannot truly worship. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
