Ecclesiastes 1:4
One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh
One generation gives birth to another as it fades away into eternity. As time passes, more souls will join them in the eternal where there is no turning back. God will receive some with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Sadly, many will have a horrifying awakening as they are separated from the presence of God and tormented throughout eternity. Everyone that has gone before us made choices in life; now is our turn to choose for ourselves.
Satan has blinded the eyes of the vast multitude by hiding the truth of eternity and the value of a soul. He has targeted the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life to keep the people entangled and distracted from the reality of eternity. As a result, the people live fearlessly, not realizing the inevitable judgment day of God is quickly approaching. The day of reckoning is coming when all of humanity will give an account for their action.
Consider this provoking thought and heart-searching question, what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Throughout history, people have fought and killed to obtain earthly wealth, something they cannot keep. Consider these few men that are famous for their worldly conquers. Genghis Khan, Nero, and Hitler’s thirst for fame, riches, and power has cost the lives of millions. They received their earthly reward, but where are they now? Where is their eternal soul now? Job said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither. There is nothing that anyone can take with them into eternity. The things they labor and kill to accumulate will remain on the earth for someone else to enjoy.
Brethren, every soul passed on to eternity left a testimony for others to remember. Our turn is quickly coming, and we will pass away like the former generations. What message are we reflecting for those coming after us? Meditate on what King Solomon said. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Our time on earth is limited, and preparing for eternity is crucial. Therefore, Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.
