Song of Solomon 1:4
...the king hath brought me into his chambers.
The highest honor and the most humbling experience is to be in the presence of the Most High King. Truly this is a blessing beyond measure; to be escorted by the King Himself into His secret chambers. Clearly, we, the people of God, are a blessed people.
It all began with a simple heart's desire that turned into a prayer; Lord, Draw me, we will run after thee. The King knows that the heart of man has many lovers, yet He has only one request, My son, give me thine heart. If He may have your heart, He may also have your will. Your King is a jealous God and He will not share you with another love. As you continue to ask for an audience with the King, the longing to be in His presence will intensify. Your priorities must change in order to accommodate your desire. The intensity will cause your prayers to combine with your actions in preparing your heart to meet with Him. Your thought life is the gate into your heart, therefore, you must guard your thoughts at all times in order to protect the heart. Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind and be sober. Entertaining worldly thoughts is like harboring an evil seed that quickly spreads through the fertile ground of the heart. Thus, we should take captive every thought that is not of God.
Jesus gave us an illustration in the parable of the ten virgins that shows us what it means to have our hearts ready to meet the King. The wise and the foolish virgins were given the same opportunity to prepare their hearts before the Bridegroom comes. Both the wise and the foolish desired to be in the presence of the Bridegroom, but only those with prepared hearts will be granted this great privilege. The wise and the foolish waited on the Bridegroom to come, however, the outcome was different for both of them. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. The wise virgins were prepared to meet the Bridegroom, and they were welcomed into His presence. On the other hand, the foolish virgins were rejected due to their lack of preparation. Both of their actions send a clear message to the Bridegroom. The wise said, “I will prepare my heart and wait for the Bridegroom's return”. The foolish said, “I will wait for the Bridegroom, then I will prepare my heart for Him”. Those that are wise will wait on God, but the foolish want God to wait on them. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
The chamber of the King is where the Bridegroom and His bride enjoy each other's presence. This is the most sacred place, the place of passionate communion with the King. This is the secret place of the Most High God and only those that have absolutely surrendered their hearts can abide in His chambers. In His presence, time stands still and everything is exposed.
Brethren, desiring to have an audience with the King is a wonderful longing. You must ask yourselves the honest question, do you really want to have an encounter with the living King? What are you willing to do to have an audience with Him? It is not enough to have a desire; there must be some action attached with the desire. What are you willing to do? What are you willing let go to gain Him? Your actions will tell the story.
