Psalm 2:4
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Our Father is the great judge. He is watching and weighing on the depravity of men from His throne. In their arrogant hearts, they have become fearless haters of God. Their hatred towards God can be seen by how much they attack His people. By embracing the thing that offends God, they are provoking His righteous anger. Hear the warning from the great judge, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. We are God's chosen people and therefore hated by the world. They have declared war against us and everything that represents godliness. Seeing and entertained by their useless effort, God's laughter echoes throughout the heavens.
LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? Due to corruption, the wicked often prosper and live long on the earth. Deceived by the goodness of God, they continue in their evil doing. Their celebration is seasonal, and every season has an end.
God is love, and He desires repentance instead of judgment. But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. The Lord is patient with them and has given them a window of time for repentance. However, consumed with hatred, instead of drawing near to the Lord, they drift away deeper into corruption. Unaware of the coming judgment when they will stand before an angry God. The wrath of God on the deceived unconverted will be unexpected. Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord.
And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the Lord our God shall cut them off. Blinded and deceived, they fall into their snares and don't even know it. They meant it for evil against His anointed, but God will turn against them. The righteous anger of the Lord is against those that persecute His people and reject His commandments.
God loves sinners, and Jesus Christ died on the cross for them. How long shall the wicked triumph? Until every God-given opportunity for them to repentant has expired. God is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Remember, we were once the wicked sinner until someone prayed for our salvation. Now is our turn to pray for someone's salvation. So they can encounter the God of love instead of the wrath of God.
