Hebrews 9:27
... it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Death is an inevitable part of life. There is no exception, from the rich man living in his palace to the poor man living underneath the bridge, death will come to visit sooner or later. Death is the result of an appointment that God appointed for us before we were born, for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Death is the avenue that God uses to escort us before His presence that we may be judged for our deeds on the earth. Every breath that we have ever taken came from Him and is accounted for. Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Every heartbeat is God's goodness knocking on the doorpost of our heart, pleading with us to make ready to meet our Maker.
The most priceless commodity that God has given us is time. Our time on the earth is like a flame of fire. It appears for a moment, then it is gone forever. As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness with the things of this world. The lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Satan desires to consume our time by keeping us preoccupied with worldly cares. Let us consider the fact that God has blessed us with twenty-four hours in one day and yet we struggle with great difficulty to give Him one hour of prayer. Worldly entertainment and amusement consume our time. Instead of us rotating around God we have to find time to fit God into our busy schedule. The works of Satan can be clearly seen by how much of our priceless time is consumed by worldly entertainment.
On judgment day the Father will separate us according to what we have done. The King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. All of our thoughts and deeds have been seen and recorded. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
Those that use time unwisely will have eternal consequences, therefore it's critically important that we spend our short time here on earth wisely. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: There will be no justifiable excuse to be able to escape this death sentence. Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Time is our greatest resource. Use time wisely and it will reap tremendous rewards, however use it foolishly and it will reap terrible consequences. The Father blessed us with time so that we can fulfill His purpose on earth. We ought to use our time the way Jesus did and that was to go about our Father's business. His judgments are final and the decisions are permanent, therefore let us be prudent with our time.
