Ruth 2:17
So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned.
Ruth, a heathen, departed from the land of Moab to pursue Christ. Moab is representative of that place that requires no change. Moab is the place of complacency, the land of false contentment. By birth, Ruth was not of God's chosen people, yet her decision to follow after Him gave her a place in history; she was in the direct lineage of Jesus Christ. God is no respecter of persons, therefore, whosoever is willing to come, let him come.
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Your time on earth is like a vapor in the wind, it is there for a moment then gone forever. Remaining in Moab will cause you to become stagnant in the process of time. Count the cost of your willingness to continue in such a place of contentment, because your God-given destiny depends on it. Ruth refused to be complacent in her relationship with the Lord. For this reason she stepped out of her comfort zone. Ruth departed from Moab, went to the place where she has never been to possess what she never had. Perhaps, like Ruth, your time has come to leave your Moab behind and Seek ye the LORD while he may be found.
God is calling a people out of their complacency into a deeper and consecrated relationship with Him. My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. Have you heard His voice calling you? Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. His voice is an indication that you are highly favored of the Lord. Come, He will reveal to you the way to the secret place of the Most High God that you may find rest under His shadow. This is a personal invitation to those that long to be in His presence.
Jesus said, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Your rest is not found in Moab, the typical modern day church; nor is it found in people, but rather in Christ alone. God has already sent His invitation; will you respond by your actions? Be diligent in seeking the Lord and you will abide in His presence. By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth. I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth. Come, consecrate yourself unto Him. Set time aside to build an altar of prayer and to mediate upon His Word daily. Be relentless and persistent in seeking the Lord… let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Search your heart and ask yourself this question: Do you truthfully desire to be in His presence, or is it just for the form of godliness? God desires to manifest Himself to you, however, He knows the intent of your heart…ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Ruth was relentless in gleaning the fields and persistent in her endeavors until the evening. Be determined in your pursuit after Christ, and as you gather, you'll posses what you’ve never had. The presence of God in your life today or the lack thereof is a direct reflection of your gatherings of yesterday. God is faithful. As you gather He will fill the desires of your heart according to your capacity. Glean, here a little and there a little, and you will discover that many “little” make for much gain.
